Who am I?

I’m a UX designer based near London, in Kent.

My job is to help teams meet the goals and needs of users and organisations, using design methods to realise value and drive impact collectively.

Design itself is a method; a collective way of working to ask the right questions and provide good solutions. My discipline (User Experience Design or UX) could be defined as strategic collaboration to manage risk and drive valuable outcomes.

...Or at least that's how I'd define it. We use design methodology to provide solutions, and these solutions (it whatever shape or form), should be delightful but also pragmatic, unpretentious, and as timeless as possible. When possible, it's a good thing to look back, revise, and re-iterate to improve them.

At work, I try my best to:

  • Think systemically (some may call it 'the big picture' too).
  • Contribute to friendly collaboration and good communication.
  • Advocate for stakeholders who may not have a voice in the room.

Two quotes I find inspiring

Styles come and go. Good design is a language, not a style.

Massimo Vignelli (1931-2014)

Inspiration is for amateurs. The rest of us just show up and get to work. If you wait around for the clouds to part and a bolt of lightening to strike you in the brain, you are not going to make an awful lot of work. All the best ideas come out of the process; they come out of the work itself.
